The Teshoo Lama's Arrival

From Kim by Rudyard Kipling
The old Tibetan lama appears outside the Lahore Museum seeking the River of the Arrow; his meeting with the Curator (a Kipling self-portrait) establishes his Search and his bond with Kim as chela.
Chapter 1

The lama arrives 'such a man as Kim, who thought he knew all castes, had never seen.' His tour of the museum with the Curator, who gives him spectacles, is one of the most affectionate scenes in Kipling.
