Following Sonia's command, Raskolnikov bows down at the Haymarket crossroads to kiss the earth he has defiled, then confesses at the police station.
Part 6, Chapter 8

Sonia's instruction fulfilled: Raskolnikov kneels in the Hay Market—'Bow down, kiss the earth which you have defiled.' He then goes to the police bureau and confesses to Ilya Petrovich: 'It was I killed the old pawnbroker woman and her sister Lizaveta with an axe and robbed them.'
